The idea of this concept started when I was talking to my brother regarding the utility needs and ease of access to his work truck. He is an oil-field engineer and he always carries tools and testing kits which are expensive. And he needs to use a tonneau cover in order to keep his equipment safe and protected from weather. But the down side of the tonneau cover are, limited height of objects he can store and also more importantly ease of access to the bed. He wished he had a work Van, but considering the rough terrain sites that he works at it’s not doable with what’s currently available unless modified extremely to fit the purpose. We all know that the current utility vans are very noisy(in cabin) and awkward looking , uncomfortable and their sole purpose is to make the access to the cargo area easy. So I began to wonder ” What if there was a utility van with pickup truck setup?” And by pickup truck Setup I mean The cabin and Cargo compartments are totally separate from each other, that way, The work van would be as comfortable as the current pickup trucks and it will have great accessibility of a van. As you can see there are bunch of unique features that I implemented in my concept, First of all, supposedly it’s going to be an all electric vehicle and the reason for that is the electric power train provides a lot of packaging freedom which results in better use of the space and proportions. I was able to push the cabin forward to open up a space where sliding doors on the cargo were possible and big enough to be used freely without much interference. The second unique feature in this concept is the cargo roller top which essentially turns the van into a truck where the user can store tall objects in the back of the truck. The third unique feature is the ease of converting this vehicle from a working van to a recreational vehicle on the weekends due to it’s ample access ports to the cargo area. The bed(box) sizes come as usual 5 1/2, 6 1/2 and 8 1/2 feet in length.
